Lesson vs. Fitting

Which One Do You Actually Need?

We're a fitting bay, not a teaching academy, but a fair number of golfers who walk in would be better served starting somewhere else. Here's how we sort that out.

SituationStart With
Strike pattern moves more than an inch across the face swing to swingA lesson
Consistent strike, but the ball flight doesn't match your intentionA fitting
Haven't changed clubs in five or more yearsA fitting
Recently changed swing mechanics with an instructorA fitting, once the change settles

Why It Matters

A Fitting Can't Fix an Unstable Swing

Shaft flex, lie angle and length are all calibrated to how you deliver the club, swing after swing. If that delivery is still changing meaningfully — from a swing change in progress, or simply inconsistent contact — a fitting session will produce a recommendation built on noise. We'll say so plainly if that's what we see on the deflection board and impact tape, and suggest lessons first with a return visit once things settle. That happens maybe one session in eight, and nobody enjoys hearing it, but building a set around an unstable pattern usually means paying for the wrong specification and then the right one.

Not Sure Which One You Need?

Bring your clubs to a session and we'll tell you honestly which one comes first.
